{"id":4092,"date":"2025-09-01T17:21:20","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T14:21:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/?p=4092"},"modified":"2026-10-05T15:55:04","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T12:55:04","slug":"shag-start","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/en\/step-start\/","title":{"rendered":"Step Start"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Start<\/strong> step is the first step of a bot&#8217;s flow.<\/p>\n<p>It shows <strong>how the bot can be launched<\/strong> and allows you to configure these launch methods.<\/p>\n<p>The Start step is available for the following messengers: <strong>Telegram, Instagram*, VK, Viber, and Facebook*<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Supported launch functions and triggers<\/h2>\n<p>You can configure launches from the Start step using:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Automations:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Welcome message<\/li>\n<li>Keywords<\/li>\n<li>Payment processing <em>(except Instagram)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Growth Tools:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Mini landing pages \/ VK landing pages<\/li>\n<li>Button widget<\/li>\n<li>Subscription widget<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Instagram additional triggers:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Story reaction<\/li>\n<li>Comment under a post<\/li>\n<li>Story mention<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Limitations<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>In Instagram:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Payment processing<\/strong> launch is not available.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Start<\/strong> toggle is not available, so the <strong>Welcome message<\/strong> launch cannot be configured from the Start step.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>VK and Instagram do not support direct links (deep links) for launching a bot.<\/li>\n<li>Launch methods cannot be deleted from the Start step.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Welcome message toggle behavior<\/h3>\n<p>When you create the first bot for a new channel, the toggle is enabled by default.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>When disabled:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The Welcome message is deactivated.<\/li>\n<li>The bot remains linked to the deactivated Welcome message.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>When enabled:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A new Welcome message is created.<\/li>\n<li>The new Welcome message is linked to the bot.<\/li>\n<li>The old Welcome message is deactivated.<\/li>\n<li>If the old Welcome message was used in an auto-mailing, the auto-mailing is disabled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Interface behavior:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Automation settings open in a neighboring tab.<\/li>\n<li>Changes are applied only after clicking <strong>Save and close<\/strong> at the bottom of the step panel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Keywords<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Keywords can be <strong>created, edited, and deleted<\/strong> directly from the Start step.<\/li>\n<li>In the keyword trigger condition window, you can enable <strong>Ignore repeated launch<\/strong> and specify the ignore period by entering a number and selecting <strong>Minutes<\/strong> or <strong>Hours<\/strong>.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8385\" src=\"https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/snimok-ekrana-2026-08-08-v-23.36.17-scaled.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1379\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/snimok-ekrana-2026-08-08-v-23.36.17-scaled.png 2560w, https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/snimok-ekrana-2026-08-08-v-23.36.17-300x162.png 300w, https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/snimok-ekrana-2026-08-08-v-23.36.17-1024x552.png 1024w, https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/snimok-ekrana-2026-08-08-v-23.36.17-768x414.png 768w, https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/snimok-ekrana-2026-08-08-v-23.36.17-1536x828.png 1536w, https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/snimok-ekrana-2026-08-08-v-23.36.17-2048x1103.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/>\n<p>During this period, entering the same keyword again by the same subscriber will not launch the flow again. The flow that has already started continues without interruption. This prevents a keyword entered during an ongoing conversation from restarting the funnel from the beginning. By default, the option is disabled.<\/p>\n<p>The minimum value is <strong>1<\/strong>. The maximum is <strong>180<\/strong> when <strong>Minutes<\/strong> is selected and <strong>99,999<\/strong> when <strong>Hours<\/strong> is selected. If you enter a higher value, the condition cannot be saved and an error will be displayed in the field.<\/p>\n<p>This setting is shared with the <strong>Keywords<\/strong> automation: changes are synchronized in both directions, along with other keyword parameters. For more information about how the ignore period works, see the <strong>Keywords<\/strong> article.<\/li>\n<li>Two trigger conditions are supported: <strong>Contain<\/strong> and <strong>Match<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>Duplicate keywords cannot be created within the same trigger condition type.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Each keyword created in the Start step automatically creates a linked automation.<\/li>\n<li>Changes are synchronized in both directions:\n<ul>\n<li>If the filter type is changed, or the keyword is edited or deleted in Automations, the changes are reflected in the Start step.<\/li>\n<li>If a keyword is deleted from the Start step, the corresponding automation is also deleted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>If an automation contains additional actions (text, buttons, etc.), it is displayed as a separate non-editable block.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Start step behavior<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>If an automation or Growth Tool is deactivated, it disappears from the Start step.<\/li>\n<li>If a launch is configured <strong>from a specific step<\/strong>, it is not displayed in the Start step.<\/li>\n<li>When you change the bot&#8217;s channel, the Start step settings are automatically updated according to the capabilities of the new channel.
