For example, a tag is added, an order is paid in GetCourse, or the subscriber attends a webinar.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The key feature of this step is that it doesn\u2019t affect the subscriber\u2019s current funnel. Even if the subscriber is going through the bot, waiting at a <strong>Delay<\/strong> step or answering a question, their path isn\u2019t interrupted. They stay at their current step, and the External trigger runs in parallel.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The <strong>External trigger<\/strong> step is placed separately from the bot\u2019s main flow. You can\u2019t draw an arrow to it from another step or draw an arrow from it into the main flow: it\u2019s a standalone event handler. Inside the step, you connect <strong>Message<\/strong> and <strong>Action<\/strong> cards to each other.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"5\">When to use the External trigger step<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Use the <strong>External trigger<\/strong> step when you need to respond to an event without disrupting the subscriber\u2019s progress through the main funnel.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A regular bot flow is started by the <strong>Start<\/strong> step or by a subscriber\u2019s action. If another event occurs at that moment, such as an order status change or a tag being added, a regular <strong>Start<\/strong> step may launch or restart the bot. The subscriber will then go back to the beginning of the funnel or move to a different step. It fires on the event separately and does only what you\u2019ve set up: it sends a message and\/or performs actions. The subscriber\u2019s position in the main funnel stays the same.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For example, a subscriber is going through a warm-up funnel in the bot and pays for a course. When GetCourse reports that the order has been paid, the <strong>External trigger<\/strong> step can:<\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Send a message: \u201cThank you for your payment! Your access to the course is now open\u201d;<\/li>\n<li>Add the \u201cPaid\u201d tag;<\/li>\n<li>Send the purchase data to an external analytics system via Webhook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The subscriber receives a payment confirmation, and their funnel continues from the same step. The funnel doesn\u2019t start over or switch to another flow.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8650\" src=\"https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/snimok-ekrana-2026-11-06-v-18.26.40.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1518\" height=\"530\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/snimok-ekrana-2026-11-06-v-18.26.40.png 1518w, https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/snimok-ekrana-2026-11-06-v-18.26.40-300x105.png 300w, https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/snimok-ekrana-2026-11-06-v-18.26.40-1024x358.png 1024w, https:\/\/help.bothelp.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/snimok-ekrana-2026-11-06-v-18.26.40-768x268.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1518px) 100vw, 1518px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"5\">Which events can be tracked<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In one block, you can select one or more event sources if you need to respond to different events:<\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Subscribing to a group or channel;<\/li>\n<li>Attending a webinar in Bizon365;<\/li>\n<li>Order status in GetCourse;<\/li>\n<li>Adding or removing a tag;<\/li>\n<li>Changing a field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The block is available in bots with a Telegram, VK, or MAX channel.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In a multichannel bot, some events, such as a tag change, may trigger a reaction separately for each channel where the subscriber has a contact.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"5\">What the External trigger step can do<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When the selected event occurs, the <strong>External trigger<\/strong> step can send a message, perform actions, or do both.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The <strong>Message<\/strong> step supports:<\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>text messages;<\/li>\n<li>files;<\/li>\n<li>URL buttons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Not supported: other button types and the <strong>Question<\/strong> card. The <strong>External trigger<\/strong> step doesn\u2019t wait for a subscriber\u2019s reply and doesn\u2019t move them to the next step.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the <strong>Action<\/strong> step, you can set up to 15 actions. These include, for example, adding and removing tags, changing a subscriber field, sending data via Webhook, and notifying an agent. Actions are performed in order. If one action fails, the rest will still be performed.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You can add up to three <strong>External trigger<\/strong> steps to one bot. Within one channel, the same trigger can\u2019t be set up twice \u2014 neither in another <strong>External trigger<\/strong> step nor in the <strong>Start<\/strong> step of another bot.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"5\">Setting up an External trigger<\/h3>\n<ol dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Open the bot in the Flow Builder and add the <strong>Event reaction<\/strong> block from the palette.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Add trigger<\/strong> drop-down menu, select the event source and fill in its conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Use the <strong>Add<\/strong> button to add a <strong>Message<\/strong> card, an <strong>Action<\/strong> card, or both. When GetCourse reports that the order has been paid, the <strong>External trigger<\/strong> step sends the message \u201cThank you for your payment!\u201d, adds the \u201cPaid\u201d tag, and sends the purchase data to analytics. The subscriber receives a confirmation, and the training flow stays at the current step.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Send materials after a webinar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After a webinar, Bizon365 sends BotHelp data about who attended the broadcast. The <strong>External trigger<\/strong> step sends these subscribers the recording or additional materials. The subscriber receives the materials, and their position in the funnel stays at the original step.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Send data to a CRM when a tag is added<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For example, when the bot adds the \u201cPaid\u201d tag to a subscriber, the <strong>External trigger<\/strong> step sends their data to the CRM via Webhook. No message is sent to the chat. The subscriber\u2019s position in the funnel stays at the original step.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"5\">How it works<\/h3>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>The step responds to new events. If the tag was already added, the order was already paid, or the subscriber joined the channel before the step was enabled, the trigger won\u2019t fire retroactively.<\/li>\n<li>For a field or variable, a change in value is what counts. Filling in an empty field for the first time isn\u2019t considered a change for this step.<\/li>\n<li>If the step is disabled together with the bot or funnel, events that occur during that time aren\u2019t queued. Once re-enabled, the trigger will fire only on new events.<\/li>\n<li>If a subscriber has unsubscribed, the step doesn\u2019t fire for them.<\/li>\n<li>The External trigger doesn\u2019t depend on where the subscriber currently is in the bot.
