When to use

The "question" block (or card) is needed to save the subscriber's answer in a field in his profile. For example, you can find out the phone number or city of residence.

Important : it is not possible to set up a multiple choice Question block; only one answer can be entered in one field.

If the question is formal and you don't need to save or use the subscriber's answer, it's more convenient to use the "text" block.

In the "question" block, you can set the waiting time during which the subscriber must give an answer - up to 180 minutes or up to 99,999 hours . This can be done in the block settings.

If the user does not respond within the specified time, he will exit the block via the "Subscriber did not respond" exit.

Types of questions

Threads support two types of questions: open-ended and multiple-choice.

Open question

To create an open question, add a new message and click on it to edit. Add a new "question" block. Give the step a name and write the text of the question.

If you want to save the answer to this question in the user profile, then in the line "Save in field ", select the appropriate field. By default, there are already several fields (phone, mail, and others), but you can create your own. Do not forget to save the step.

By entering the answer from the keyboard, the subscriber will move to the next card within the current step or exit via "Next step" if there are no more cards in the step.

Multiple choice question

Multiple choice questions are created in the same way. Once you have created a question, click the Add answer and add options.

In different messengers you can add a different number of options and their length. We do not recommend making more than 10 responses.

From the answer, you can draw a connection to the next step.

Output "Subscriber did not respond"

  • If one step contains several questions and from any of them there is a link from "Subscriber did not answer" to the next step, then: if there is no answer to this question - the subscriber will go to the next step and will not receive the rest of the questions from this step.
    Example: in the diagram below, if the subscriber does not answer the "First question", then he will not receive the rest and will go to the "Step from the first question" and then follow this chain.
  • If the "Subscriber did not respond" output has no connection, then: the subscriber will not respond and will not click the button during the response waiting period, then will move to the next card within the current block or exit the step via "Next step" if there are no more cards in the block.
  • If there is no connection from "Subscriber did not respond" and from "Next step", then: 1) the subscriber will click on the button, then go to the next step, the subscriber will write something of his own, 2) then the bot will stop, and the subscriber will not write anything and will not click on the button during the response waiting period, 3) then the bot will stop.
  • In one step, you can extend the connection only from one output "Subscriber did not answer" if there are several "question" blocks. In the bot settings, we recommend dividing the blocks into separate steps.

    What to do if the subscriber does not select the answer with the button, but writes something of his own?

For this case, set up a transition from the step to the next one. This could be a repeat of the question, a text message with different content, or a step with some action.

Important: If the buttons with answer options do not have links to the next steps, the subscriber will go to the next card within the current block or exit the block via the "Next Step" if there are no more cards.

Question settings

For all "question" blocks, you can enable answer checking and sending a reminder.

The text "Error message" will be displayed if the subscriber enters characters that do not match the selected field type, for example, enters text instead of a phone number.

If you activate the "Remind if no response" option, the subscriber will receive a reminder text after the time specified in the "Send after..." field.
