UTM tags are parameters that are added to URLs to obtain detailed information about traffic. They are used to track the effectiveness of advertising and the funnel.

Using UTM tags

UTMs can be used for analytics within the platform, exported to external systems, or filtered by subscribers.

 

UTM tags are saved inside the user profile in special fields. You name the parameters inside the tags yourself. You can use only one of the tags or fill in all of them.

Adding a UTM tag to a link

To add a tag, simply paste it into the URL after the main link to the landing page. You can create a tag using special constructors from Google or Tilda .

 

Note: If you are creating a link using the constructor, check it at the output. The link requires the HTTPS protocol. We do not guarantee that the link will work correctly with the regular HTTP protocol. 

 

On the BotHelp platform, you can add a UTM tag to the link to the VK landing page and mini-landing page .

Tags for mini-landing

Copy the link to the mini-landing page and paste it into a notepad or UTM tags constructor. Then add the UTM tags you need to the end of the link.

Example of a link with UTM:
https://mnlp.cc/mini?domain=demo&id=8 &utm_source=test&utm_medium=post

Example of a link in the case when a custom domain is added :
https://landing.bar-uh.ru/149 ?utm_source=test&utm_medium=post

Tags for VK landing

Copy the link to the VK landing page and paste it into a notepad. Add tags to the end of the link.
Example of a link with UTM:
https://vk.com/app6379730_-132741842#l=79 &utm_source=test&utm_medium=post
If you use a link to the VK landing page with auto-subscription, also add tags to the end of the link: auto=1&utm_source=test&
To shorten the link to the VK landing page with tags, use the vk.cc .

 

Note: We do not support dynamic parameters in landing links.
Dynamic UTM tags are available only for VKontakte.

Tags from Facebook ads*

You can pass UTM via webhook when launching the bot from a certain step

  1. Select Buttons instead of Quick Replies .
  2. Write the name of the button.
  3. Select the Postback .
  4. In the "Bot payload" field, paste the bot ID (bot payload) that you copy from the bot in BotHelp and the desired UTMs

  1. After clicking the button, the specified UTM tags will be written to the subscriber card

Important! The transfer method works only in Buttons, it does not work for Quick Replies

Transfer of tags

You can configure the upload or transfer of tags from the platform.

  • Export to table

You can simply export a file with subscriber data, the tags will be displayed in the table. More about export

  • Transfer by link

  • Transfer to Yandex.Metrica and Google Analytics

Dynamic UTM tags

Using UTM tags in advertising campaigns allows you to analyze their effectiveness.

If you need to replicate ads, the data should be pulled into the tags from the account automatically. To do this, use dynamic tags.

Do not shorten a link with dynamic tags when using in BotHelp. 

Static UTM Tags & Dynamic Parameters

Main types of static labels:

utm_source
specific name of the traffic source
utm_medium traffic source type
utm_campaign Advertising campaign name
utm_content defines different versions of advertising (for example, two different links in one advertising letter)
utm_term
indicates a specific keyword (for AdWords) or the date of sending an email with an advertising link

To add a tag, simply paste it at the end of the landing page link, separating them with the "&" symbol. Detailed settings are described in our article .

You can create a tag manually or using special constructors from Google or Tilda .

List of dynamic parameters:

{ad_id}
ad id
{campaign_id}
advertising campaign identifier
{campaign_name} campaign name from the advertising account
{client_id} Client ID (for agency accounts)
{platform} platforms from which clicks on ads were made
{keyword} or {search_phrase} key phrases that led to the click through to the ad. There can be several such phrases - a maximum of 3 phrases will be transmitted, with a total length of no more than 200 characters; the parameters are equivalent, use only one of them

To use dynamic labels, you need to specify the parameter you want instead of a specific value.

Static UTM tags always specify the same constants.

Unlike permanent UTM tags, dynamic ones require you to insert a parameter that will pull values ​​from a specific ad.

3. Track your followers

Using dynamic UTM tags will significantly save your work time.

The same link can be used in all advertisements, even if there are more than 100 of them.

There is no need to come up with a new permanent UTM tag every time.

You will always know through which particular ad the subscriber came to you.

In the search line in the advertising account (Ctrl+F) you can find the desired ad by values.

If the name of the advertising campaign is written in Cyrillic, then the UTM tag will be saved in the subscriber's profile in BotHelp in Russian:
