Companies using the WhatsApp Business* platform are charged for correspondence within a 24-hour window according to the category of correspondence.

WhatsApp Business API* conversations are divided into two types, the cost of which varies.

A business-initiated conversation. The conversation is initiated by the company when a message is sent to the client outside the 24-hour window. In this case, chargeable template messages are used.

A user-initiated conversation. The 24-hour window starts at the moment of sending a reply message from the company. Companies can send messages freely form during this time.

All conversations are measured in fixed 24-hour sessions.

Note

  • If the company does not respond to the user’s message, the conversation will not open, and there is no need to pay for such an incoming message.
  • If 24 hours have passed since the user sent the message, the company can only respond with a template message, and it will be charged as a conversation initiated by the business.

:exclamation:Since April 1, company-initiated conversations have been divided into 3 categories:

  • official conversations;
  • authentication;
  • marketing.

For user-initiated conversations, the purpose of which is to resolve customer issues, the category applies:

  • support.

For each message that you will send to the client in the category of conversations initiated by the company, you will have to select the category at the time of template approval.

Note: For previously agreed templates, it will be installed automatically. If necessary, you can dispute and change it.

Pricing plans

The cost of correspondence is determined by the user’s country code. The rates for correspondence initiated by the company and the user depend on the country or region.

The cost of outgoing calls to numbers from Russia will be approximately as follows (depends on the exchange rate).

Calculated for the exchange rate of 1 € = 82.9 ₽:

— services ≈ 5.5 ₽ (0.0664 €)

— marketing ≈ 3.2 ₽ (0.0395 €)

— authentication ≈ 2.94 ₽ (0.0355 €)

— support ≈ 2.7 ₽ (0.0329 €)

Free conversations

The first 1,000 conversations per month will be free, and only the monthly plan will be paid to the WABA provider. Payment for conversations will start from the 1001st conversation. They can be initiated by both the business and the user.

The countdown for free conversations begins at 00:00 on the first day of each month, according to the time of the region where the WABA number is registered.

Example of a user-initiated conversation 

  1. The user starts a conversation with the company, but the 24-hour window has not started yet.
  2. The company responded at 10:31 a.m. The 24-hour window countdown starts from this message.
  3. The user continues the conversation in an open window.

In this example, the company will pay for only 1 conversation initiated by the user.

An example of a business-initiated conversation


  1. The user starts the conversation first.
  2. The company responded at 17:00. The 24-hour window countdown starts from this message. The company paid for the conversation initiated by the user.
  3. The next day, the user continues the conversation within the open window, but there has been no response from the company. The 24-hour window has closed.
  4. The company sends the message the day after that. Since more than 24 hours have passed since the last conversation, the company will pay for this message as for initiating a new conversation. And the message is an approved HSM template.

In this example, the company will pay for 1 conversation initiated by the user and for 1 conversation from the company (outgoing).
