Very often there is confusion in definitions: for example, what is the difference between a channel and a flow. This article describes in detail terms that may be misunderstood by beginners, and sometimes even experienced users of the platform.
The channel in BotHelp is where messages are sent to your people. This can be a VKontakte community, a Facebook* page, a Telegram or Viber* flow, a business account in WhatsApp*or Instagram*.
(!) Do not confuse the channel in the messenger (usually Telegram) with the channel on our platform. Messenger channels don’t interact with BotHelp in any way.
Telegram bot — a bot that is created via @Botfather and connects to BotHelp as a channel. We have it marked as a channel, but people see it as a bot in Telegram.
Flow in BotHelp — this is a message chain that will be sent to the person according to the script you set. Messages from the flow are sent to the messenger.
There can be multiple flows for a single channel. The person will not see this in any way. All messages will be sent to the same chat.
Business page in Facebook connects to BotHelp as a channel. Don’t confuse it with your personal Facebook page, which doesn’t connect to the platform. Flows and other automations only work with Facebook business pages.
Sequence — a linear chain of messages. Unlike the flow, it doesn’t have any conditions, actions, or “question” blocks. Sequences can be started to your person without any actions on their part.
Broadcasting — a one-time manual message that leaves immediately after sending or at a scheduled time. There are no steps or delays, and all blocks are sent at once.
Tags — these are internal tags on the BotHelp platform. You can use them to understand where the person came from, filter users, and use conditions to choose which branch in the chain the user should get to. Internal tags cannot be exported.
UTM tags — parameters that are added to URL to get detailed traffic information. They are used to track the effectiveness of advertising and the sales funnel. You can track them using conditions, as well as export and transmit them to other systems.
Facebook message tags are required to send messages to users after the 24-hour window is closed. Used only for the Facebook messenger.
Domain — usually understood as the profile name or username BotHelp. It is selected when signing up on the platform. The domain for each user is different and cannot be repeated.
You can find out your domain in the browser’s address bar if you are logged in to your profile:
In this example, the full address of the profile is: pinigin.bothelp.io
And the domain (profile/user name) is: pinigin
Do not confuse domain (profile name) with the domain for a mini-landing page.
People on the platform are people who communicated with your channel after the channel was added to your profile.
For example, if you have enabled the VKontakte group as a channel, and there are 10,000 people in this group, all these people will not be displayed on the platform. Only those who will communicate after the group is connected to BotHelp will be displayed. And since you can text the community without joining it, the same person can be a person to BotHelp and not be a subscriber to the group.
