In your BotHelp profile, you can create a menu with commands for telegram flows. This is a built-in Telegram functionality that allows the user to call up the interactive menu of the flow with its commands at any time.
Key features of the command menu
- It is available only for telegram flows.
- It is created for the entire channel. If several flows are configured for one telegram channel, the created command menu will be displayed in each flow.
- Each menu command can take the person to a specific step in the selected flow. If a person triggers a command while going through the flow, then this flow stops for them. Only flows created for the channel for which the menu is created are available for assignment.
- If necessary, you can deactivate the created menu without deleting it. In this case, the command menu will not be available to people, but it will remain in the BotHelp profile.
Creating and setting up the command menu
There are two ways to set up the command menu in Telegram.
Method 1: in the flow chain settings in BotHelp
To do this, click on the gear in the upper-right corner, select the “Telegram Menu for Channel” item and add the command.
Method 2: in the profile settings
To do this, go to the “Channels” section, click the “⫶” menu of the desired telegram channel. Select “Create Command Menu” from the drop-down list.
1. In the window that opens, add the first menu command by clicking the “+ Add Command” button.
2. Set the name and description of the command.
- The command name can contain only Latin letters, numbers, and “_”.
3. Select the flow and its step which you want to transfer the person to when calling the command.
The channel name in the command window is clickable to make it convenient to open the channel, add commands and test right away.
The rest of the commands will be created in the same way.
- If necessary, you can change the order of commands in the menu. To do this, simply drag the command card to the desired location inside the created menu.
4. Be sure to click the Save button.
- During further editing, be sure to save the menu so that the changes take effect.
5. Activate the menu by clicking Activate.
That’s it: the menu has been created and is available to people.
For people, the created menu will be displayed as a drop-down list and a Menu button.
Important! If you have created a command the name of which matches an already created keyword, then it is the keyword that will work for the person, not the command.
For example, the keyword “/test” and the command “test”. The keyword has to contain the “/” sign. This sign does not have to be in the name of the command: it is added automatically.
Important! It takes a few seconds in Telegram for the changes to take effect. After creating or changing and saving the command menu, try entering the chat with the flow again so that the menu appears or is updated.
Important! Only account administrators can enable the menu, agents do not have access to it.
Frequently asked questions
If the menu activates a flow that starts with the “Question” block, and the person has already gone through another flow and stopped at the “Question” step, where will the answer given by them be recorded?
The answer will be recorded in the “Question” field, and a message will be sent according to the entered command. After that, you will receive a message following the “Question” block. The 24-hour delay counts down starting from the point when the person received this block.
