Common Issues When Connecting Popular Channels: Telegram, Instagram*, and Facebook*
This article lists the most common errors when connecting and working with popular channels. It helps quickly identify why an integration may not work and shows which settings to check or correct before reconnecting the channel.
Telegram: What Can Go Wrong
-
Bot was not granted admin rights – the bot cannot send messages or publish posts in a channel/group (most common case).
-
Bot is in the channel but lacks full permissions (e.g., publishing, managing messages).
-
Incorrect channel/group ID (for private channels/groups, the ID must start with
-100…). -
Account adding the bot is not an owner/admin – insufficient rights to add the bot.
Instagram*: Specific Issues
To ensure Instagram channel integration works correctly, the following are required:
-
You do not have a business account.
-
Facebook*/Meta Business Manager does not have admin rights on the page or account.
-
Your Instagram* account is not linked to your Facebook* business page.
-
Message access is not enabled in Instagram settings.
-
Profile name is missing — a required field.
-
Business account does not have access to Instagram messages.
After correcting these settings, the channel must be reconnected in BotHelp.
Facebook Messenger*: Issues and Notes
-
You must be an admin of the Facebook page* you are connecting.
-
Messages must be enabled on the FB page (otherwise BotHelp cannot access conversations).
-
If access rights settings are changed, reconnect the channel in BotHelp.
Connection Loss
Even if the integration worked before, the connection can be lost due to:
-
Admin password change
-
Deletion of the admin who originally connected the account
-
Changes in messenger settings
-
Removal of the integration by another employee
-
Transfer of account ownership to a new owner
In these cases, the channel must be reconnected.
Practical Tips to Minimize Errors
-
Always check the role of the user connecting the channel (must be admin/owner).
-
After any social network settings changes, reconnect the channel in BotHelp.
-
For Telegram, ensure the bot has the required permissions in the channel/group and that the correct ID or
@usernameis specified. -
If the integration suddenly stops working, reconnect the channel via the Channels section.
-
Multiple channels can be connected to a single BotHelp account. These can be from different messengers or the same messenger. For example, you can connect 3 Instagram* channels to one BotHelp account.
