What It Is
You can now manually interact with followers of Instagram* accounts through the Dialogs section for up to 7 days after the last contact — instead of the previous 24 hours. This means that live support agents can maintain conversations longer and warm up followers more effectively, increasing conversions.
If a follower’s last activity was more than 7 days ago, new bot messages will no longer be delivered to their Direct messages.
Activity includes any message from the user, a button click, or starting a new bot — for example, by mentioning the account in Stories or using a keyword.
After the 7-day window closes, followers still count toward your subscription plan.
Bypassing the Restriction
Instagram* does not provide any official way to bypass the 7-day window.
There are no special tags like those on Facebook* or template messages like in WhatsApp*.
The 7-Day Limit
The restriction applies only to automated messages — all messages sent through the BotHelp platform, including those you send manually via the Dialogs section.
However, you can communicate directly via Instagram Direct* with a follower without any restrictions.
How to Work With the Limitation
We recommend designing your bot flows so that the follower is encouraged to interact after each message.
Ask questions and include buttons in your messages.
With this setup, the bot can keep running as long as the follower stays active.
Example flow:
If a user replies to a question in the third message, the 7-day window resets.
This way, the fourth bot message can be delivered — even 8 days after the bot was first launched, as shown in the screenshot.
