Sometimes it’s necessary to split a long bot flow into several shorter ones. There can be several reasons:

  • It’s inconvenient to work with a very long flow.

  • With many steps, the load on the computer increases, and the browser starts to work slower.

  • It’s easier to find errors in shorter flows.

  • You may need to start the flow not from the first step.

How to split a flow

  1. Copy the original bot:
Go to the copy of the bot and click Edit. Keep only the steps that should be in the first short bot. The rest can be deleted by multi-selecting steps. To do this, hold down the left mouse button in an empty area of the editor for a few seconds and drag the cursor. A selection box will appear.
You can also select multiple steps by clicking on them while holding the Shift key. After selecting, press the Delete key to remove the steps.

  2. Return to the list of bots and copy the original bot again. The second copy is needed so you keep the original long flow intact.

  3. Open the new copy and keep only the steps that should be in the second bot.
  4. Give the new bot a name to avoid confusion.
  5. If you need to split the long flow into more than two parts, repeat steps 3 to 5 as many times as needed.
  6. Add a transition to continue the flow.
  7. Go to the first short bot and at the step where the flow used to continue, add a transition to the next step. For the next step, select the launch of the second flow.
