You can create a “Reaction to story” growth tool in your profile. Automation will allow you to launch a flow and perform other actions on people who have responded to the published stories.
Important! If 24 hours have passed since the publication of the story, then you will not be able to create a new growth tool for it. But the already created one will continue to work even after the story becomes inactive.
Setting up the growth tool
1. Go to the Growth Tools section on the BotHelp platform.
2. Click the New Tool button.
3. In the window that appears, click the Reaction to story button.

The trigger settings page will open.
4. Select the Instagram* account for which you want to enable automation.
5. In order for automation to work for a specific story, in “This Automation will work with…” select the option “Certain stories” and click the “Choose stories” button.
Or select the “All channel stories” option so that automation is triggered for all published stories.
Important! Don’t forget to turn on VPN before clicking the “Choose stories” button so that all the stories load correctly.

6. In the Trigger only section, use the If field to specify what the tool should respond to:
- Any reaction or message — the tool triggers on any response from a subscriber to the selected Stories. You don’t need to specify any keywords or emojis.
- Contains — the response must contain one of the specified keywords or emojis. For example, if you specify the keyword “course”, the tool will trigger on a response such as “I want the course”.
- Matches — the response text must exactly match the specified keyword or emoji.

Important: When Any reaction or message is selected, the keyword and emoji fields become unavailable. No filtering is applied, and the flow triggers on any response to the Story.
We recommend: If you want the tool to respond to all replies, select Any reaction or message. This way, you don’t need to list all possible words and emojis to make sure no response is missed.
7. If needed, enable Ignore repeated launch and specify the ignore period by entering a number and selecting Minutes or Hours.
During this period, a new comment from the same subscriber under the same post will not trigger the flow again. The flow that has already started continues without interruption.
By default, this option is disabled, so every comment that passes the filter triggers the flow again.
The minimum value is 1. The maximum is 180 when Minutes is selected and 99,999 when Hours is selected.
Important: If you enter a value above the maximum, the tool cannot be saved and an error will be displayed in the field.
How the ignore period works
- The countdown starts with the first trigger and is tracked separately for each subscriber + tool pair.
- Repeated triggers during the ignore period do not extend or reset the countdown. The window remains fixed from the first trigger.
- When the period expires, the next comment triggers the flow again and starts a new ignore period.
- The option applies only to this specific Growth Tool. Another Growth Tool or keyword can trigger independently.
- If you change the ignore period or disable the option, the changes also apply to ignore periods that are already in progress. The remaining time is recalculated according to the new settings, and disabling the option immediately removes the restriction.
- When you duplicate a tool within the account, the option’s status and ignore period are copied along with it.
- The option takes effect from the moment it is enabled. Triggers that occurred before it was enabled are not included in the countdown.

8. On the second page, in the “Actions” tab, select the actions to be performed after the person responds to the story.
You can choose one or more of the following actions:
— add/remove a tag;
— set/clear a field;
— increase/decrease the field by a certain value;
— subscribe/unsubscribe;
— send person data to email;
— send person data via webhook.
9. You can add an accompanying message: a text with a button or just a picture. The message will be sent to the person’s Direct Messages before the actions listed above are performed.
Important! You can sign up a user for a flow via the action button in the cover letter.
You can also use the action button to:
— add/remove a tag;
— set/clear a field;
— increase/decrease the field by a certain amount;
— subscribe/unsubscribe;
— send person data to email;
— send person data via webhook;
— open a chat with an agent.
After you have set up the message and all the necessary actions, click Save and Activate.
Now, when a person responds to your story, the actions that you have set up will be automatically performed.
A notification will be sent to the conversation with the person for whom this growth tool has been launched.
